CELPIP - Your Gateway to Canada PR and Immigration
The Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program test is a general English language proficiency test. It is recognised by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residence, citizenship, and professional licensing. Who Accepts CELPIP?
CELPIP is officially accepted by:
- IRCC for Canada PR and Citizenship
- Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs)
- Immigration consultants and licensing bodies across Canada
- Designated organizations for professional licensing (real estate, healthcare, etc.)
- Many Universities now accept CELPIP. But make sure before taking the test for acceptance to your preferred universities.
Kindly note that this test is non-applicable for non-Canadian visa processes.
Types of CELPIP Test
1. General
- Used for Permanent Residency (PR) applications and professional licensing.
- Assesses four skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
2. General LS
- Required for Canadian Citizenship applications.
- Assesses only Listening and Speaking skills.
Only the General test is accepted for Canada PR. The General LS test is used for citizenship and certain job applications.

Test Fees in India and Globally
The CELPIP test is available at select authorized test centers outside Canada, including in India, UAE, Philippines, and USA.

Scoring System
CELPIP scores are reported as Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels, ranging from Level 1 to Level 12, with Level 9 and above considered excellent for immigration.

Each module is scored individually, and there is no overall average score. For Express Entry, IRCC typically expects CLB 7 or above in all modules.
Score Reports and Validity
- Scores are available within 4–5 business days.
- An express scoring option is available (within 3 days at extra cost).
- You’ll receive a digital score report, and additional hard copies can be requested.
- Scores are valid for 2 years for immigration purposes.
