Types of Tests
There are three major types, each serving different purposes:
1. Academic
Primarily used for university admission, professional licensing, and skilled migration.
2. Academic Online
Same test as Academic, but taken from home with remote proctoring. Accepted by many institutions, but not valid for visa purposes.
3. Home edition
Accepted by UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) for certain visa categories.
PTE Test Format and Modules
The Academic test is completed in a single 2-hour session at a secure test centre or online (for Academic Online). The test includes 20 different task types across four communication skills:
1. Speaking & Writing (54–67 minutes)

As of 2025, the Academic test fee in India is approximately INR 15,900. Additional charges will apply for late booking, rescheduling, or sending scores.

PTE Scoring System
Pearson uses an automated scoring system based on AI and machine learning, ensuring objectivity and consistency. Scores range from 10 to 90 and assess:
